Mielotxin FOLK TALDEA
¨Mielotxin¨ was formed in 2.004 with an aim of modernization and renovation of the folk music from the historical ethnographic region of Navarre, which nowadays is part of the Spanish/French euro-region called ¨Nouvelle Aquitaine-Euskadi-Navarre¨. The use of song lyrics in both the Basque language from the north and Spanish language along with a variety of instruments, dances, folk and original music reflect the richness and cultural diversity of Navarre. All this is presented in a modern way as in the current contemporary folk.
The musical level of the musicians of ¨Mielotxin¨ and the different timbres of the instruments: txistu, txirula, alboka and accordion are fused with the double bass, piano and a set of percussions of the world in a powerful and fresh live show.
Throughout the years, the band has presented its music to different major stages and festivals in a lot of countries such as France, Hungary, Bulgaria, Portugal and Sweden. ¨Mielotxin¨ has received the following awards in Spain: 1st prize – New Music Young Artists of Navarre – 2004, 2nd prize – Eurofolk of Illora – 2004 (Granada), 3rd Prize the Stage Prau – 2006 (Cantabria), 1st prize – Folkez Blai de Ermua – 2007 (Bizkaia). The band also received a support grant for their European Summer Tour in 2018 from the Cervantes Institute.
So far, ¨Mielotxin¨ has released five CDs: “Empápate 2.005″, “Almadierra 2.008”, “Cuando la beharra obliga” 2.011, “Alan Lomax in memoriam” 2.017 and “Ordago” 2.021, “Dantzari ausarta” 2.024

The first four songs recorded in April 2024 at Mr.Hugge Recording Studios in Tafalla (Navarra) by Luis Ros. Mixed and mastered by Caco Refojo at Montepríncipe studios in Madrid. The following were recorded in February 2026 by Josu Erbiti in his studios in Berriozar. (Only on platforms).
